Fleet Statistics — User Manual
Overview
The Statistics page is an analytics dashboard for monitoring fleet performance over time. It lets you select vehicles or drivers, choose a time period, and view aggregated KPIs, charts, and summaries. The Benchmarking feature overlays a comparison dataset on the same charts so you can evaluate whether results are good or bad in context.
Getting Started
Step 1 — Choose a Scope
At the top of the filters panel, select either Vehicle or Driver using the toggle. This determines whether the data you load represents vehicle activity or driver behaviour.
Step 2 — Select a Time Period
Choose one of the preset periods:
| Option | Covers |
|---|---|
| 24 hours | Yesterday |
| 7 days | Last 7 days |
| 30 days | Last 30 days |
| Custom | You pick exact start and end dates |
When Custom is selected, a date range picker appears. Select your start date, then your end date.
Step 3 — Select Organizations
Use the Organization selector to pick one or more organizations from the hierarchy tree. The entity selector below it will then show only vehicles or drivers belonging to those organizations.
Selecting a parent organization does not automatically include its child organizations. Select each organization you want explicitly.
Step 4 — Select Entities (optional)
Leave the entity selector empty to load data for all vehicles/drivers in the selected organizations, or pick specific vehicles or drivers. This is useful when you want to focus on a subset without changing the organization selection.
Step 5 — Configure Benchmarking (see full section below)
Before clicking Load, choose a benchmark mode if you want comparison data.
Step 6 — Load Data
Click Load. The dashboard will fetch data and display KPIs, charts, and summaries. The Load button is disabled until the minimum requirements are met:
- At least one organization selected
- A valid date range
- If using "Another Organization Average" benchmark: benchmark organizations also selected
The Dashboard
KPI Cards
KPI cards appear at the top of the dashboard. Each shows a single aggregated metric for the loaded period. When benchmarking is active, each card also shows a delta — the percentage difference between your current value and the benchmark value, coloured green (improvement) or red (regression) based on whether higher or lower is better for that metric.
Available KPIs include:
- Total Distance
- Average Speed / Max Speed
- Average Behaviour Score
- Fuel Used (total and idle)
- Electricity Used (total and idle)
- Fuel Efficiency (km/l and l/100km)
- Electricity Efficiency (W/km and kW/100km)
- Coasting Distance
- Driving / Idling / Coasting Duration
- Averages per entity (distance, driving duration, idling duration)
- Behaviour Events per 100 km
Not every KPI shows a benchmark delta for every benchmark mode. For example, "Total Distance" and "Total Fuel" are suppressed when comparing individual entities against an organization average, because the absolute total depends on how many entities you selected — it would not be a meaningful comparison.
Charts
| Chart | Type | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Distance over time | Line | Daily total distance |
| Average speed over time | Line | Daily average speed |
| Fuel used over time | Line | Daily fuel consumption |
| Electricity used over time | Line | Daily electricity consumption |
| Behaviour events / 100 km | Bar | Daily averaged events per 100 km |
| Behaviour events per driving hour | Bar | Daily averaged events per driving hour |
| Driving / Idle / Coasting split | Pie | Time distribution across the period |
| Distance on fuel / electricity | Pie | Distance split by energy source |
When benchmarking is active, line and bar charts show the benchmark dataset as a dashed line overlaid on the same axes.
Benchmarking
Benchmarking answers the question: "Is this result good or bad?" It does so by loading a second dataset alongside your primary data and computing deltas.
Benchmark Modes
None
No benchmark is loaded. KPI cards show only the raw value. Use this when you only need to report numbers without comparison.
Auto Benchmark (recommended starting point)
The system chooses the most appropriate mode based on your selection:
| Selection | Auto mode chosen |
|---|---|
| A single entity | Organization Average |
| Multiple entities from the same organization | Organization Average |
| Multiple entities from different organizations | Previous Period |
Use Auto when you are not sure which mode fits, or when your selection changes often and you want the comparison to stay sensible automatically.
Previous Period
The benchmark data is fetched for the same number of days immediately before your selected period. For example, if you load 7 days ending today, the benchmark covers the 7 days before that.
When to use:
- Tracking progress over consecutive periods ("are we improving week on week?")
- Post-event analysis (e.g., after a driver training programme)
- Any time the same fleet is being compared at two points in time
Interpretation:
A KPI delta of +5% vs Previous Period on Average Speed means speed increased by 5% relative to the prior period. Whether that is desirable depends on the KPI — for behaviour score, higher is better; for fuel consumption, lower is better. The colour coding handles this automatically.
Organization Average
The benchmark is calculated from all vehicles or drivers in the selected organizations, excluding the specific entities you have selected. This gives a "rest of the fleet" baseline.
When to use:
- Evaluating an individual driver or vehicle against their peers
- Identifying outliers within a fleet
- Reviewing a subset of vehicles against the broader group
Example: You select 3 drivers from Fleet A and choose "Organization Average" as the benchmark. The benchmark will be computed from all other drivers in Fleet A (not including your 3 selected drivers), giving you a fair peer comparison.
If you have not selected specific entities (i.e., you loaded an entire organization), this mode compares the entire organization against itself, which produces a benchmark of zero delta everywhere. This is not useful — select specific entities first.
Another Organization Average
You select a second set of organizations. The benchmark is computed from all vehicles or drivers in those organizations.
When to use:
- Comparing one fleet (or sub-fleet) against a different fleet
- Benchmarking a newly onboarded customer against a reference customer
- Cross-fleet performance reviews
Setup: After selecting this mode, a second Benchmark Organizations selector appears. Select the organizations whose average you want to benchmark against, then click Load.
Example: You load Vehicle scope for Organization A, and set benchmark organizations to Organization B. Every KPI and chart will compare Organization A's fleet against the average of Organization B's fleet.
Reading Benchmark Deltas on KPI Cards
Each KPI card with an active benchmark shows:
[Value] [±X.X% vs (mode label)]
The delta is coloured:
- Green — the direction is favourable (e.g., behaviour score went up, fuel consumption went down)
- Red — the direction is unfavourable
- Gray — the KPI is neutral or the delta is zero
Reading Benchmark Lines on Charts
On line and bar charts, the benchmark dataset appears as a dashed line in the same colour family as the primary series. Hover over any data point to see both the primary value and the benchmark value for that date.
Customizing the Dashboard
Click the Customize button (gear/settings icon) to open the widget drawer.
- Add widgets from the library by clicking them.
- Remove widgets by clicking the remove icon on an active widget.
- Reorder widgets by dragging them within the active list.
- Resize widgets by selecting a width (XS through XL). KPI cards are narrow by default; charts default to full-width.
Changes are saved automatically when you close the drawer.
Presets
Presets save your entire configuration — filters, date period, benchmark mode, and dashboard layout — as a named snapshot you can recall later.
Saving a Preset
Configure your filters and dashboard, then click Save Preset. Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Weekly Driver Review", "Fleet A vs Fleet B").
Loading a Preset
Open the presets menu and click the preset name. The filters, benchmark settings, and dashboard layout are all restored. Click Load to fetch fresh data for the restored configuration.
Setting a Default Preset
Mark a preset as the default and it will be applied automatically each time you open the Statistics page.
Editing and Deleting Presets
Use the edit (pencil) and delete icons next to each preset in the list.
Exporting Data
The Export dropdown (available after data is loaded) offers two formats:
| Format | Contents |
|---|---|
| Excel (.xlsx) | One sheet per KPI summary, one sheet per chart's time series data, one sheet per chart's entity breakdown, one sheet per pie chart |
| PDF (.pdf) | A screenshot of the visible dashboard, landscape-oriented |
Use Excel when you need to manipulate or share the numbers. Use PDF for presenting the visual dashboard in reports or emails.
Tips and Common Patterns
Weekly driver review: Set scope to Driver, period to 7 days, select all drivers in the relevant organization, benchmark mode to Organization Average. Load. KPI deltas immediately show which drivers are above or below the fleet average.
Month-over-month fleet trend: Set scope to Vehicle, period to Custom (last month), no specific entities, benchmark mode to Previous Period. Repeat each month — the Previous Period benchmark automatically shifts to the prior month.
Cross-fleet comparison: Set scope to Vehicle, select Organization A (no specific entities), benchmark mode to Another Organization Average, set benchmark organizations to Organization B. Load. Every metric compares A's fleet average directly against B's fleet average.
Focusing on fuel efficiency: Remove all non-fuel KPI widgets from the dashboard and keep only fuel-related KPIs and the "Fuel used over time" chart. Save as a preset named "Fuel Review" for fast access.
